Chris Martinez’s story: How he started DUDE Agency

When Chris Martinez started his own agency, he didn’t know what kind of business it would be. But as soon as the idea for DUDE came to him in 2012 when Chris started to run Google ads to help other agencies get access to his talent pool and thus began his mission to develop his own agency.

Dude today is recognized by Chris’s famous Black Mexican mask which as he recalls was just a souvenir he had picked up on a trip with friends. When he started wearing it at a conference, he realized it characterized “brute force” which then set his agency on its own trajectory.

Long before Chris became an agency owner, his networking – forging long-lasting connections with the right people paved the path for his success.

In today’s digital age, it’s more important than ever to develop strong relationships with others in your field.

 Here are four ways to make your networking stronger: 

  1. Learn a systematic approach to networking so you can maximize each connection
  2. Join groups that are similar to your niche so you can learn from and share with likeminded individuals;
  3. Acknowledge your client’s needs and be prepared to offer solutions;
  4. Connect with people on a personal level by sharing stories about yourself.

By following these tips, you’ll be well on your way to strengthening relationships and growing your business.

On scaling your agency – Grow to multiple 7 figures

To achieve multiple seven figures, Chris realized it would take a lot more time and effort than he could give. However, Chris’s lightning bolt moment came when he realized he needed to analyze the process and whether the market was responding to it. By running google ads multiple times and failing, there needed to be a threshold that sustained the success.

Marketing To Agency Owners – Close to the right people

For most people that are unfamiliar with the credibility of Digital marketing gurus, the saturation of content makes it difficult to pick which methods would be most effective

Agency owners are difficult to market to, Chris agrees but there are always ways that work. Referrals work and are more effective than you may think. Also, don’t just have a big client base, your focus should be on strategic partners that help you grow.

As a digital marketer, it is important to remember that the hustle mode is always on. Namely, it’s important to always be hustling and to find new ways to stand out in an increasingly noisy online world.
